For The Love Of The Holidays, Do This ONE Thing On November 1st!
Halloween…ugh, I don’t know about you, but for me Halloween is my least favorite holiday of the year. Maybe it’s all the costumes, maybe it’s all the decor, maybe it’s all the candy, maybe it’s all just TOO much!!
In my world I want everything calm, clutter free and consistent, to me Halloween is the complete opposite of my normal world.
It makes my skin crawl when I see witches flying on broomsticks after Thanksgiving and pumpkins sitting on porches deep into December. I want Halloween to quickly come and go, so that I can enjoy the rest of the holiday season!!
However, with that said, my views on Halloween have been changed over the past five years. Now that I have three young children who talk non-stop all year about what their costume will be this coming Halloween (changing their minds a dozen times before finally settling on the perfect disguise). The joy in their little bodies as they run from door to door receiving candy, is like none other.
It has helped me to see the good in Halloween: by creating traditions with our little family, by spending time with our neighbors and friends, and by embracing the start of the holiday season!
What I’m asking of you (begging of you) this Halloween is to please please please put away your Halloween decorations on November 1st! I know you are thinking this lady is crazy, “I still want my pumpkins out for Thanksgiving.” And yes, I agree, pumpkins are fine for the fall season but please, no witches, ghosts or goblins.
Get out your halloween storage bins (or go out and buy some) and pack away those ghoulish sights until next year. Keep on top of your holiday decorations and you will be ahead of the game for the holidays, allowing you to focus on enjoying this time of year.
Whether or not have mixed emotions like me about Halloween, please enjoy it to its fullest, embrace it, and then say goodbye until next year!
Thanksgiving, here we come!
Right now, get out your calendar and mark November 1st as the day you are putting away your halloween decorations…or else, mwaahaahaa!!!
*Go one step further and have your neighbors do the same!
